Cookie & Storage Policy

The short version
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site. Analytics cookies are only set if you click “Accept analytics” on the banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no tracking cookies are set. We also use your browser’s localStorage to remember your accessibility preferences and your consent choice.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They can be read by the website on future visits. The UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) require websites to obtain consent before setting non-essential cookies.
localStorage is a separate browser API. It stores data on your device in a similar way to cookies, but the data is never automatically sent to servers with HTTP requests. UK regulators treat it similarly to cookies when used for tracking; we do not use it for tracking.
2. Cookies we set
We do not set any first-party cookies. If you accept analytics, Google sets the following cookies on your device:
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated client ID | 2 years |
_ga_XC2ZB0LZB0 | Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4 | 2 years |
These cookies are set by Google, not by us. No analytics cookies are set if you click “Essential only”. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
3. Local storage we use
We write the following entries to your browser’s localStorage:
| Key | What it stores | When it’s set | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
ttpAccessibility |
Your chosen accessibility settings: large text, high-contrast mode, reduced motion, and increased letter-spacing preferences. | When you change a setting in the Accessibility tools panel. | Persists until you clear your browser storage or reset via the panel. |
ttp-analytics-consent |
"1" if you accepted analytics, "0" if you declined. Prevents the consent banner from reappearing. |
When you make a choice on the cookie consent banner. | Persists until you clear your browser storage. |
ttp-hubspot-consent |
A flag ("1") indicating you have consented to loading the HubSpot registration form on roundtable event pages. |
When you click “Load registration form” on the HubSpot consent notice. | Persists until you clear your browser storage. |
None of these entries leave your device. None are used for advertising or profiling.
4. Third-party storage
Google Analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised data about how visitors use this site, including pages visited, time on page, and referral source. No personally identifiable information is collected. Google Analytics is provided by Google LLC. Data is processed in accordance with Google’s privacy policy. You can opt out at any time by clearing your browser’s site data, which will cause the consent banner to reappear on your next visit.
HubSpot (roundtable registrations)
Roundtable event pages may show a registration form provided by HubSpot. The HubSpot embed is not loaded automatically — you will be asked to consent separately before it loads. If you consent, HubSpot will set the following cookies on your device:
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
hubspotutk | Tracks a visitor across sessions for HubSpot analytics | 13 months |
__hstc | Tracks sessions, pages visited and time spent | 13 months |
__hssc | Tracks the current session | 30 minutes |
__hssrc | Detects whether a session was restarted | Session |
These cookies are set by HubSpot and are subject to HubSpot’s privacy and cookie policy. If you do not consent, the form will not load; you can still register interest via our contact page.
Unsplash (images)
Some pages display images served from the Unsplash CDN at images.unsplash.com. Unsplash may log the image request (including your IP address) as part of normal CDN operation. Unsplash does not set cookies on our pages. Please refer to Unsplash’s privacy policy for details.
5. Managing your preferences
To withdraw analytics consent or change your choice, clear your browser’s site data for thetalentpeople.co.uk. The consent banner will reappear on your next visit. The path varies by browser:
- Chrome/Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → Site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent GA from collecting data across all sites you visit.
6. Changes to this policy
If we introduce additional cookies or change how we use analytics, we will update this page and, where required by law, seek fresh consent. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
